I do a stack of kayak fishing. Up this way we catch mackeral, cobia, kings and tuna so I started thinking about putting a bit of flash in the water to keep the predators in one spot without using berley. For a kayak fisherman, I don't really like berley because of the shark factor. Predatory fish are attracted to sharp, fast flashes so a teaser is probably a good thing. The other night I slapped together a flasher in about 10 minutes and it does the job beautifully. I just drop it off the kayak and troll around it or cast into it.
Here's what you need:
3-5 CD's preferably shiny on both sides
A few big swivels and large split rings
A ball sinker
Short length of 60lb+ mono
A power drill
An empty 2 litre milk bottle with a handle
It's so easy, all you want to do is drill holes in the CD's so they hang off each other in a series. One above the other. When the holes are drilled attach the split rings and the swivels. This makes the flasher spin in the water. On the bottom CD attach the ball sinker. On the top CD attach about a metre of cord and tie it off to the milk bottle.
That's it! Easy huh...
