Hi everyone reading this,
This is a topic I believe everyone should know about.
All the Intel Pentium, Celeron, Dual Core, Core2Duo chips for the sockets 775, 478 All come with a 3year return to Intel warranty. If you buy a chip and don't get a heat sink with it there goes you warranty up in smoke. Your warranty is directly related to the chips serial number and its heatsink's serial number. Intel will not touch a chip if the heat sink does not match the cpu serial number. So..
- If you buy a chip make sure you get the correct associated heat sink with it.
- If you buy a custom heat sink don't just throw your old one away store it safely.
- If you buy a 2nd hand chip get a copy of the original receipt.
This way you know you wont get a lemon and will be protected with intel's warranty. Although in saying all this with the 2000 Intel chips I have sold at the computer business I work at, we have had 2 faulty. Hopefully this has saved a few people some heartache and walletache.
-Marc
