Buyers can Save money on Registered Post.

Many sellers insist that buyers pay for Registered Post and charge varying amounts fpr this service from Australia Post.

Most people do not realise (and Australia Post do not advertise)  that any article sent through Australia Post is automatically covered to the value of $50 - so it makes no sense to send articles of less than $50 value by Registered Post.

If any article is lost by Australia Post, all the seller has to do is lodge a claim with Australia Post, with proof of postage - the original cash register slip with imprinted postcode will do,  and proof of value - a copy of the original eBay listing is sufficient, and Australia Post will refund the value of the item plus cost of postage.

I have lodged claims a number of times for items lost by Australia Post and have never had a claim refused.

In fact it has become my policy that if an item is lost, i will ask the buyer to check with the local post office and if has not been received within a reasonable time I shall replace it knowing that Australia Post will compensate me.

The actual cost to the seller of Registered Post is $2.75 and if they are bought in bulk (prepaid) $2.10. This covers the item to the value of $100 and extra Insurance is available at a cost of $1.25 for each $100 above the first $100.
