Christmas Moss-- Making your Aquarium Wonderland

We have many customers having headache over which kind of plants to choose to create a Backdrop or for Ground Cover. They wish to have create an underwater "Golf Course" for their fishes or shrimps. After they try out on Christmas moss, they come back for more. Here are the reasons why.

1. It can be grown attached to a piece of driftwood or rock, it forms triangular fronds in the shape of Christmas trees (hence the common name). In lower light, it grows much less densely, and again, is often much less organized in structure. Under higher light conditions, attached or anchored to an object, does Christmas Moss show its true structure. It will form a bush of triangular fronds that is very attractive and undemanding.
This moss is very easy to grow in the aquarium, as it will grow with almost any amount of light and survive with low light and no CO2. Christmas Moss prefers cooler temperatures, under 77F or 25 degree celsius.

2. It is perfect for creating a moss backdrop or ground cover. They are created by sandwiching the moss between two pieces of plastic mesh and placing this in the back, bottom or sides of a tank. The moss eventually grows through the mesh and covers it up, creating a covering of attractive triangular fronds.(People call it underwater "Golf Course") Shrimp and fish fry use it as cover and it is also an excellent source of food for both. Christmas Moss is perfect for covering hardscape, filling in gaps, and creating living backdrops and carpet in any aquariums.
