If you've been wanting to upgrade your hard drive but keep putting it off by burning mountains of DVD's, there's never been a better time to upgrade. The Seagate 1.5 TB hard drive is the most eco friendly so far, saving you up to 43% in energy costs.
Introduction
Until recently, the 1.5TB hard drive was the largest on the market. With 2TB drives now available the cost of them can be out of reach for some of us. The 1.5 TB drive is well priced and still provides the performance that you'd expect. Seagate recommends this drive for Gamers, Desktop PC's using it for RAID and even external USB hard drive caddies.Drive Specifications
It's hard to find any IDE hard drives these days, let alone high capacity ones. So if you're looking to try and squeeze this drive into an older PC, you're not going to have any luck. This drive runs on a Serial ATA interface which maxes out at 120 megabytes per second. The best thing about this drive is when it's idle, it runs at 43% less power and is manufactured in compliance with RoHS standards. RoHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances and baiscally means that heavy metals and other hazardous products are used less during the production of electronics.
It has a standard speed of 7,200 RPM which is the standard for drives these days and also comes with a 32 Megabyte cache.
Warranty
Seagate have one of the best warranty return systems around, and they make it easy to return their products. The 1.5 TB comes with a 3 year limited warranty and in the unlikely event that you have to return it, you just need to run a diagnostic using their free Seatools program and then send it away. They will then send you a replacement drive once it's been repaired. How to Order
