We get many buyers from other country's who don't understand that DVDs are normally region encoded by the DVD company's. The DVD company's do this due to different TV standards worldwide, for example: Australia is region 4 PAL and America is region 1 NTSC. This is also a good way to tell if you are buying the real deal or not. Many new DVDs should be region encoded or else they are probably copy's. There are some exceptions to the rule but they are very rare. Here is a table of region codes, not all country's are included but if your country is close to one that is named then you are probably that region.

REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Resevered for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

If you still are unsure of what region you are in check the back of the DVD player you should find one of these code's on the back of the machine in a white square and if all else fails please contact the company that made the machine. Last but not least there are many multi region DVD players out there, they will either have 0 or ALL stamped on the back and yes it means that the machine can play DVDs from anywhere. Thanks for takeing the time to read the guide.
