Guitar Strings are an individual choice by the player, each player uses different strings to suit their needs. At AUStrings we work with each player seperately to find the perfect set of strings. The most common sets we sell (to men, women, begginers and professionals) are as follows.

For Example:

Most Men Prefer:

  • Acoustic Phosphor Bronze 'Medium' 12-54
  • Electric Nickel Round Wound 'Light' 10-46
  • Mandolin 'Medium' 11-40
  • Banjo Stainless Steel 'Medium' 10-23-10

Most Women Prefer:

  • Acoustic Phosphor Bronze 'Light' 11-50
  • Electric Nickel Round Wound 'Extra Light' 9-42
  • Mandolin 'Medium' 11-40
  • Banjo Stainless Steel 'Medium' 10-23-10

Most Begginers Prefer:

  • Acoustic Phosphor Bronze 'Light' 11-50
  • Electric Nickel Round Wound 'Extra Light' 9-42
  • Mandolin 'Light' 10-34
  • Banjo Stainless Steel 'Light' 9-20-9

Most Proffessionals Prefer:

  • Acoustic Bronze 'Heavy' 13-57
  • Electric Nickel Round Wound 'Heavy' 11-50
  • Mandolin 'Medium' 11-40
  • Banjo Stainless Steel 'Medium' 10-23-10

Some things to look out for when purchasing Strings:

  1. Are the strings new?
  2. Are the strings sealed?
  3. Where are the strings made? (9 out of 10 players will say the world's best strings are made in the USA)
  4. Are the strings the right price? (Compare prices first)

( The above charts are simply a guide to the most common sets of string we sell to each genre of player. )

All Guitar Strings vary in Tone and Feel by the actual String Gauge/size      eg. A set of Electric 9-42 will feel lighter and sound thinner then a set of 11-50, simply because the strings are smaller in thickness, The 9-42 strings will also be easier on your fingers then the 11-50 because again, they are a smaller thickness string.

How to find Strings on Ebay:

The most common way to find Strings on Ebay is to simply click the 'Buy' Button on the Ebay home page. Then enter in the search bar 'guitar strings'. You can be more specific by choosing the category 'Musical Instruments'.
