There are a few people that will try to get you to buy things outside of Ebay, They will say they will do a better price but I tell you that trying to save a few $$ could cost you greatly.
This is my story of an overseas transaction that went bad big time.
I bought some Video camera batteries from a Ebay shop operating out of China, I bought 5 Batteries and 5 Chargers and these where delivered without incident. I only bought 5 so i could test the quality as to purchase more Batteries. I contacted the seller and he suggested that if I only do the transaction with PayPal he would give me a better price. Well we are all looking for a better price and I thought that I was safe by using PayPal.
Oh how wrong I was!!! There is a scam and it goes like this, You buy from the Ebay seller and he ships your goods, you receive the goods and think these are great I will buy more. The seller does not have the quantity listed on Ebay so they offer a cheaper price if you bypass Ebay and deal direct.
I used paypal to send $945 to the Seller, after 18 days they have not turned up, I email the seller and he says please wait. To wait past 20 days cuts you off from lodging a Paypal claim so not wanting to get caught out I lodged the paypal claim. The next step was that the Chinese Ebay seller reponded by lodging the EMS shipping consignement for the Ebay transaction. This is a hard one as it is proof that you were sent goods.
Even though it was for the previous Ebay sale. I have been told it is a common scam so watch out.
