Jewellery Making - Basic Technique

Wrapped Loops

Basic Equipment

  1. Round nose plier
  2. Good quality head pins (the kind that bend not snap)
  3. Wire cutters

Make sure there is at least 3.5cm of wire above the bead. Using pliers bend the wire into a right angle. Use the round nose plier to create a simple loop with the tail overlapping the bend.

Grasp the top of the loop with your pliers. Wrap the wire around the gap beween the loop and the top of the bead tightly. Trim the excess wire to finish.

Mastering this technique takes practice but the effort is well worth it, as it opens up endless design possibilities.

Please send me any question, ideas or comments.
