Latest scam Voice phishing

The latest trend in scamming is called voice phishing.

  • When you get a call from a "bank officer", customer service (could be non-bank), police(!) or voice machine, be careful. This is how it works:
  • When the call is answered, the voice says your credit card has been the subject of fraud and you need to call a specific number. When you responsibly call the number you will be asked for your credit card number and other security information, such as your birthdate, your mother's maiden name to verify. Sounds usual? Yes because that is the details you gave the bank on the first place.
  • The scammer then uses your real valid details to trick the real bank or organisation, that the scammer is YOU.
