It is not a good idea to go for expensive motherboards at this time. There will be a new socket coming next couple of months. ( may be in November 2008)

for more information.

Question:  How much should I spend on a new motherboard in socket 775.
Answer :  My advice is not to spend more than  Au $150 (or equal to US $100  ). If you need more features like firewire IEEE1394 or extra USB ports better get them as separate cards, so that next time you upgrade, you can re-use them. If you are looking for the new Socket 1366 you need to spend more than $400 for a new motherboard. But in time the price of socket 1366 motherboards will come down.
