NAIL ART .... HOW TO DO IT !

Nail Art includes any form of decoration or enhancement added to the nail. It may be something simple like 2 tone nail polish, or the use of decals, gems, freehand painting etc. Combine several techniques in the one design and let your imagination run wild!

**NOTE:
FOR MORE STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS AND DIAGRAMS SEE OUR NAIL ART INSTRUCTION BOOK UNDER OUR NAIL ART CATEGORY!

*GEMS/DIAMENTES: Apply to semi wet nail polish.

To add sparkle to a design and add texture. Use a pair of fine tweezers or an orange stick with a little topcoat on the end to enable you to pick up the diamente.

Apply gently, do not use too much pressure, which will sink the gem too deeply into the polish. Large gems like stars, etc you can use a small amount of nail glue and apply to dry polish.

Apply topcoat or nailart sealer.

 *FOIL:

Start with dry nails. They may be painted, as long as polish is dry.

Lightly brush on adhesive where you want the foil to go. Foil may be used to cover an entire nail or small areas. It is not necessary to have nails painted first.

Allow adhesive to dry—it is dry when it turns clear but will still remain tacky (do not touch adhesive once on nail)
Cut off a small piece of foil, press onto nail, shiny side up. Rub firmly over surface of foil.

Peel back foil backing gently.
Apply topcoat to nail.

*DECALS:

Water type: Apply to dry nails.

Select design and cut out

Wet the back of the decal (soak in an eggcup for a few seconds works well)

When it is ready the design will peel off the backing paper, slide it off and apply to nail.

Allow to dry for a few seconds.

Apply topcoat/nailart sealer.

Rub on type: Remove design from backing paper, place face up on dry nail.

Use an orange stick or similar implement to rub across the top of the design until it is imprinted on the nail.
Apply topcoat/nailart sealer.
Sticker type: Apply to dry nails.

Choose sticker and peel off backing paper.

Place on nail and gently press down.

Apply topcoat/nailart sealer.

*GLITTER: Use on it’s own or to highlight your other designs.

Use a clear nail polish, dip the tip in the glitter, paint where you want it on the nail. Experiment to get the right mix. If the glitter is too thick, use more polish.

You can also put the glitter into a small tub and dip the wet nail into it.

Appy topcoat/nailart sealer.

*GOLDLEAF: Apply to semi wet nail polish.

Handle gently as gold leaf is very delicate. Use an orange stick or tweezers to remove small pieces from the bag. You can make patters, place tiny pieces or cover the entire nail.

Apply topcoat/nailart sealer.

*GOLD BULLION: Apply to semi wet nail polish.

Use a wet orange stick (wet the end with topcoat) to pick up the bullion. Place where you want it on the nail.

Apply topcoat/nailart sealer.

***REMEMBER:

Everyone is a nail artist.

Use your imagination and practice, combine techniques, eg, glitter and decals, gems and goldleaf…Use pictures and colors around you for inspiration.
Don’t forget special holidays like Halloween, Valentines Day…..ENJOY!
