WARNING about PHOTOCOPIED Dust Jackets/Wrappers

BEFORE bidding on rare books listed as having dust jackets/wrappers (usually shortened to dj or dw), also ensure the auction states that the dj/dw is ORIGINAL and not a PHOTOCOPY or FACSIMILE.  Sellers will often 'bury' this information in the listing. So long as they haven't included dj/dw in the subject line, it's up to you to read the fine print.

If you're unsure, email the seller before bidding.

An ORIGINAL dj/dw will often double or triple the value of a rare book. This is usual for example in respect of early BIGGLES and other works authored by W E Johns. Even a damaged dj/dw will boost the price.

If you spot a rare book complete with a jacket which looks too good to be true, it probably is! Modern software makes it easy to 'repair' damaged jackets.

So, always read the fine print. Email me if you have any questions on this subject, and happy bidding!
