Hello Fellow Ebayers.
I am writing this Guide in an attempt to stop you from making the same mistake as i did, when I bought an MP3 player from Hong Kong, through Ebay.
Ebay is a great place to buy MP3 Players. There is a massive range, and everything is well below retail cost. But be Warned. Not all Units are as they appear on the ads. Some sellers are willing to lie and cheat in order to make a few extra dollars. I've discovered that all these scammers come from Hong Kong and other Asian countries.
So What are They Doing Wrong?
They are advertising their MP3 Players to have more memory than they actual do. My experience with a Hong Kong MP3 scammer was i bought what appeared to be a 4GB MP4 player for around $60, but when i went to load songs onto it I discovered it was only able to hold 1GB worth of song.
So How Can I Tell if a Dealer is one of these scammers?
Check their Feedback
But all the foreign MP3 dealers I looked had feedback ratings of around 98%, which is pretty good.
Most people will leave positive feedback when they receive the MP3 Player and it looks like their will be no problem. Then when try to load it up with songs, it will only fit a fraction of the space advertised. When they complain to the seller, he'll ignore the emails because he has nothing to gain by offering refunds, because feedback has already been left.
To work out if the seller is a scammer, scroll down the sellers feedback page and look for negative feedback that has been left. Some people will complain about not receiving their unit or the screen not working etc. but look to see if their are comments complaining about how it doesn't hold the right amount of space. If you find 5 or more people complainging about this, you can be pretty certain that the seller is dodgey.
I recommend you visit www.xbox0.com.co.uk It will tell about these scammers in more detail.
But if you want to be really safe, I recommend you buy your MP3 Player through Australian Ebay dealers.
