The Blackberry device is something between a mobile phone, an email machine and a PDA with some really cool additions such as an organiser (diary) and an Internet browser.

One of the great advantages of the Blackberry is that your email from the office is pushed out to the device automatically.  This means that you have up-to-the-minute access to what’s happening in your organisation and with your clients no matter where you are.

The QWERTY keyboard on the device, while small, only takes a day to get used to: before long you are sending lots of emails using your thumbs (it’s easier that it may seem)!

I use my Blackberry to check for important emails between meetings.  It is really fantastic when you are traveling, because you don’t need to always take your laptop computer with you to log onto your work computer systems remotely.  The Blackberry is Tri-Band so that you can travel internationally and roam…great to check emails when you get off a long flight.

I love being able to check my diary while in a meeting and to put a new appointment in, knowing that it will all be synched up with my office diary on the work computer.  And the ability to add contact details for people you meet is invaluable.

My Blackberry makes my work day more productive.  It’s great for the boss because it means I check my work emails from home.  It doesn’t matter if you work for yourself or a big company, the Blackberry is a great investment.

There are lots of different models of Blackberry, manufactured by Research in Motion (RIM), I have a Blackberry 7230, you should check out the Blackberry 7730, 7750 and 7780 as they are really good.  If you are looking more for a mobile phone which also has wireless email, look at the Blackberry 7100 series(the 7100g, 7100i, 7100r, 7100t and the 7105t).

My only warning is to be careful when walking and accessing your email.  Those poles on the footpath loom up really fast!
