The key to selling your art successfully  is finding  a subject that you love to paint and also honing in to a certain degree on  what is popular at the moment .. Like anything creative it has to flow from you and you will be drawn to what you want to impart to the viewer .I  personally want to feel good , happy invigorated when I am looking at a work of art so that is the  aim of my work

I started selling on Ebay about 5 years ago  and I was in my "flower period" and I sold very small acrylics on canvas mostly frangipanis  ...I had  one customer tell me how his wife had burst into tears when he gave her one of my little creations . Very satisfying !

Nowadays I am painting either beach /water scapes and as a trip to Western Australia is in the air I am doing quite a few of that region especially of around Broome and the Kimberleys ...

I am finding that the market is wanting the rich reds ,blue skies , the green/ blues of the ocean and also beach scenes are always popular ..

Everyone enjoys holidays and a lot of us dream of that beach escape or touring the outback and I have been fortunate enough to do that over the past few years so I try to include that in my work and the feeling of freedom that comes with travel especially around Australia..

Find what you enjoy painting and you will attract the customers that you are of the same focus or interest ....

The basics apart from that are good photos (light and colourful and clear ) a short description of the artwork size and medium  and a little bit about yourself ....I found supersize photos as in 'Auctiva' are great and the templates are free and easy to use ...I always use registered post  so I have a receipt for my paintings ........... I have found that  Greyhound Freight have a courier service included and are by far the most economical for larger items within Australia ....

In the marketing tools I was printing off  flyers as part of advertising ..shopping centre boards , any activity I went to or at the restaurant where I display my art ..(until I got a black/white laser printer )
I also use email marketing fo people who have favorited me ..

I use industrial strength bubblewrap and strong cardboard to pack ...and always insure overseas parcels ...

My routine everyday is always to check "My Messages" throughout the day so as I can answer any enquiries as quickly as possible .

Have as much fun as I do and really enjoy the experience .....
