Ski/Snowboard socks are especially designed to meet the physical demands of the sport.  Most socks will provide stability and warmth to the skier/snowboarder while keeping moisture at bay.

The humble ski/snowboard sock has more impact on your day out on the slopes than you might think.  A great way to guarantee a bad boot fitting (not to mention cold feet) is to wear a thick sock, or, worse, several pairs.  Thick socks cause your foot to move around in the shell of your boots, which really reduces the ammount of precision, control and responsiveness of your boots.  Another disadvantage is that thick socks "fill" the veins around your feet and ankles, which reduces the circulation and therefore making your feet cold.

The best sock would be a thin wool or blended sock.  Pay that little bit extra for a decent pair and not only will you save money by not wasting a lift pass on "bad boot" days, but your feet will love you for it!
