Serious Safety Issues with Imported Restorations
They're fun to ride and reliable but will the vintage scooter your about to buy put you in hospital with serious injuries or literally publish your name in the death notices for you.
I'm not mentioning the country of origin but most classic scooter enthusiasts know exactly where. Please beware of the issues that can put your life at risk if you attempt to ride one of these death traps.
Some serious defects are listed below. Some of these defects are not visible due to the paint, various coverings and because they are engine internals. Please do your research before buying a Vespa or Lambretta scooter and be sure that what you are buying will be reliable and most of all safe to ride.
- Frames made of two frames welded together
- Body filler so thick a magnet won't stick
- Engines rebuilt with used parts, incorrect parts, wrong sized parts, or badly remanufactured parts
