Cherished items that can sometimes be very fragile are worth investing a little time in. When washing linens handwashing is always advisable and if using bleach to remove stains always go easy with the content and keep it mild. Some older colours will run , so always test first if not sure. Sun dried is always best and for pure linen, iron while damp to remove creases more easily. For stubborn rust stains, a few drops of lemon juice, let sit in natural sunlight for 1/2 hour or so then wash. Reapet if required. When storing, always use acid free paper or air tight bags and ensure items are clean before being put away for lengths of time.
