eBay Seller Cartage Company Price & Services Comparison
Postage Postage Postage
It’s all about the money.
How much you charge your customer is one thing, but how much you end up paying the bill from postie is another.
For Sydney sellers, I hope this is useful in some way to say you the cost. All prices are based on a weekly postage volume of 100 parcels. If you are an irregular seller, use Australia Post as always.
AP= Australia Post
Services Parcel Weight Value Post to Region Cost
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AP Regular Less than 250gram <35 National $4
AP Registered 250gram+ >$50 Remote Area, Country regions $2.05-$2.7
AP Express Upto 3kg >$35 Remote Area, Country regions $7-$9.9
AP Prepaid Satchel Upto 3Kg Small but bulky WA, Remote Area, Country regions $9.2
AP eParcel 250g+ $35+ Country and rural regions Ususally 15% loading than AP regular services
Fast Way Upto 25Kg >$35 Sydney Metro or capital cities $4-$5.3
Couriers Please upto 10Kg bulky items $35 Metro $9+
Here is a good example. Say I’ve sold a Wii 22-in-1 Sports Pack to three customers, postcodes are 2000, 4670 and 6000.
The article itself is bulky and heavy, if I were going to use AP Regular services, there is no compensations if the parcel is lost, and the cost is not cheap either. Use the AP calculator if you have to.
What I will then do, is to use Fast Way for the customer at postcode 2000, fast and secure. Use eParcel to customer at Postcode 4670 and use Registered Post to 6000.
The savings? If I were going to use Australia Post Regular services, the above scenario will cost me around $35-40 without any insurance. With a simple selection and smart selection, the cost is pretty much the same but all three items are covered for peace of mind.
If you are volume trader, try use eParcel batch uploading, as it saves you heaps of time and cost you nothing as they provide free labels.
If you are a seller focusing on metro areas, Fast Way is a good selection too, but make sure the box is packed with some heavy loads, 25kg is a lot of stuff.
If you are just started eBay, good luck with Australia Post services, who have not been received mails from neighbours on a monthly basis? Buy the prepaid registered labels and always bulk buy to save.
Couriers Please is only recommended for commercial traders, as they are a fairly young firm, although the pricing is competitive but there are a lot of regions that they cannot deliver to.
In short, start with Australia Post for small articles, once you’ve achieved the volume in Sydney, sign up with eParcel and Fast Way and buy in bulk.
